The SoCal lacrosse scene focuses on San Juan Capistrano this weekend — starting this afternoon, actually — with the return of the Cal Lax Classic, fast becoming one of the biggest and best events of the summer.

The event, held today through Sunday at the Rancho Mission Viejo Riding Park, features more than 50 boys club teams in U-13, U-15 and High School age groups, with clubs coming from as far away as Seattle and Tucson. Last year, in fact, the Seattle Starz swept both U-13 brackets and both U-15 brackets.

Among the local clubs listed as participating are Silverfin, LA Mavericks, Saddleback Starz, 395 Starz, Team Panos, OC Crush, Trilogy West and Golden Eagles. The full list of entrants and game schedule can be found on the tournament website.
