USC women open debut season Saturday vs. No. 1 Northwestern

We haven’t done much, if anything, with women’s lacrosse here at Southland, but we’d be remiss if we didn’t at least mention that there’s an NCAA Division I women’s game right here in L.A. this weekend — two, in fact.

USC opens its inaugural season Saturday against two-time defending champion and top-ranked Northwestern at the Los Angeles Memorial Coliseum. Admission is free (though parking on site is $10), and the first 1,000 fans will receive a commemorative t-shirt. Game time is 3 p.m. Here’s a bunch more information about the game, the Trojans’ roster and the upcoming season.

Sunday, the Trojans take on No. 14 UMass at 1 p.m. at McAlister Field on the USC campus (Hoover and 30th).
