The Southwestern Lacrosse Conference announced on its Facebook page its “Tournament and Recruitment Fair” this weekend in San Diego. The event wraps around the league’s semifinals and championship games.
Friday, the Division I semifinals will be held at UC San Diego, with UC Santa Barbara (12-2) facing Arizona State (9-5) at 5 p.m. and Arizona (9-7) facing Chapman (14-3) at 7:30 p.m. Arizona State and Chapman should be well rested, having been seeded through to the semifinals. UCSB advanced with an 11-8 home win over UNLV, while Arizona defeated visiting Loyola Marymount 14-12.
In Saturday’s Division II semis at Westview High School, Grand Canyon (12-1) faces Biola (8-3) at 1:30 p.m., and Cal-State Fullerton (16-4) faces Concordia (14-3) at 4 p.m. Biola and Concordia received byes into the semifinals, while Grand Canyon beat UC San Diego 15-2 to advance, and Fullerton knocked off Occidental 16-13.
Between games Saturday is the “recruitment fair,” though I’m not quite sure what it is. The league’s flyer indicates representatives from Biola, Arizona, Arizona State, San Diego State, Fullerton, San Marcos, Grand Canyon and Occidental will be in attendance. And it’s free with admission to the games, so there’s that.
Sunday, the D-I and D-II finals will be held at Westview, with the D-II game at Noon and the D-I game at 2:30 p.m.
