Earlier this month, the Santa Monica Vikings Lacrosse club announced that Santa Monica High School (SAMOHI) will be fielding CIF lacrosse for both boys and girls beginning this school year.

The Vikings boys team has been a powerhouse at the high school club level in the past few years, advancing to the state championship final four in both the past two seasons while accumulating 27 wins to only 6 losses. Having played against some varsity competition in events such as the L.A. Watts Games, the new, official SAMOHI team will look to continue its success at the CIF level.

Below is the full announcement from the Vikings Lacrosse website.

Exciting news everyone!!

It has been formally announced that as of this coming spring (January 2014) Santa Monica High School will be officially running lacrosse as a CIF sport!

This is what we have been working towards for the past 7 years and now it is coming to fruition.
This fall is the time for all high school players to really get in shape and hone your skills for the super competitive spring CIF season.

All players who do not attend SAMOHI, please email me so that we can figure out the next steps.
All players enrolled in ISPE should contact their counselor at school and have the ISPE only for the first semester and then school sport after the New Year.

As it saddens me that, after this fall, I will no longer be running lacrosse…as I have been doing for the past 7 years…I am very excited that all of you will be the FIRST CIF Lacrosse team at SAMOHI!!
Please feel free to contact me if you have any questions or concerns.
