LXM|ATS San Diego comes to the Del Mar Polo Fields this weekend for the second stop on the 2013 tour. With 68 teams from Grom (3rd-4th grade) to Elite playing Friday through Sunday in the Adrenaline tournament, the LXM Pro game on Saturday, the SCLAX post-collegiate title game on Sunday, plus player and coaches clinics throughout the weekend, it promises to be a full weekend of great lacrosse.
While we weren’t able to get down to OC for the first LXM event, where Team STX defeated Maverik United 14-13 (though Connor Wilson had our back with this recap), Southland will be heading to San Diego on Saturday to catch some tournament games, clinics, and of course, LXM Game 2 between Team STX and Maverik United. If you’re going to be in San Diego this weekend, make sure to have the full schedule and field map handy so as not to miss out on any of the great lacrosse happening in Del Mar.
For Team STX, JR Oreskovich will make his debut after playing for LXM’s other squad in the past two seasons and missing the event in Orange County a few weeks ago. He will join Kyle Harrison, Sam Bradman and the rest of Team STX in trying to start the season 2-0. On the other side, Johnny Christmas and Hamilton Pollard will look to get Maverik United its first win. With a game under their belts, both teams should be a little more polished after having a chance to play together, and I look forward to seeing some of the rookies like Peter Baum and Billy Bitter really do some damage for their squads.
If you can’t make it to San Diego this weekend, as always you can tune in to The Lacrosse Network to watch the LXM game, with the opening face-off at 2:15 p.m. Saturday. Also follow @krowen on Twitter, as we’ll be tweeting pictures and updates from San Diego on Saturday.
Be sure to check back next week for our full recap and photos!
