Game photos: San Diego St. 9, UCLA 2
San Diego State completed a weekend sweep of USC and UCLA on Sunday, beating the Bruins 9-2 behind a physical, smothering defense that gave up few good looks and kept UCLA’s offense on its heels the entire game.
Offensively, the Aztecs (5-2 overall, 0-2 SLC) were balanced, with five different players scoring. Freshman Jack Vonarb (Encino/Crespi) and junior Matthew Hardy (San Diego/Patrick Henry) scored three goals each. Vonarb ranks sixth nationally and leads the SLC in goals scored with 21.

Defenders Ryan Mitchell (Lafayette/Acalanes), Brendan Rogers (Del Mar/La Jolla Country Day) and Parker Doliber (Danville/Monte Vista) gave UCLA little space.
Goalkeeper Ryan Flaherty (San Diego/Patrick Henry) had 10 saves to only 2 goals-against.
Freshman Jack Vonarb (Encino/Crespi) added to his league-leading total with three goals.
Sophomore Kevin Hoover (San Juan Capistrano/Capistrano Valley) had a goal and two assists.
Speedy sophomore midfielder John Wilson (San Diego/Torrey Pines) had a goal for the Aztecs.
